Artificial caves in virtual reality

Real-life artificial caves are presented here. The models were created using photogrammetry. Viewing is possible on a computer, smartphone, as well as with virtual reality glasses.

The cave is carved into the chalk rock of the high right bank of the Don River near the village of Selyavnoye. The local peasant Petr Kurbanov began digging the cave in 1851, and later he was assisted by other people. A church and several corridors with branches were organized in the cave. The nearby Divnogorsky Monastery, fearing the outflow of parishioners, petitioned the governor to ban digging. The caves were entrusted to the monastery, and Kurbanov and his companions were accepted into the monastery brotherhood.

This complex consists of 2 caves. In one of them, there is a church with a fairly large hall. The second cave consists of corridors on several levels with numerous cross-shaped intersections. It is dated to the early 19th century.

The caves are carved out of sandstone were started to be dug in 1849 by local peasants Yakov Pavlov, Vasily Nikitin, and Ivan Korobov for religious purposes. In 1856, authorities banned the digging after a complaint from the priest of the village of Gremyachee.

The cave was founded in 1859 by the peasants of the village of Gorokhovka - Maxim Kurasov, Fillimon Kondratyev, and Mitrifan Zimin. The cave contains a large church room, corridors in various directions, and a small cell with a window for alms.

The cult cave consists of 2 levels. In the lower level, there was a church in the 19th century (which was blown up in the early 20th century). The upper level features a complex of several rooms interconnected by narrow corridors.

This cult cave consists of a series of intersecting corridors. There is a small room in the right part.

The cave of the 17th-18th centuries is a large (~950m) labyrinth with a cave temple, various chambers, long corridors, and different levels.
